The National Health and Family Planning Commission reported on July 23 that experts from the CPC Committee have confirmed one case of imported Rift Valley fever.
Tang Tomou, male, 45 years old, from Henan Province, worked in Angola. On the evening of July 14th (Beijing time), the patient developed fever with headache in Angola, as well as symptoms of systemic joint pain, muscle pain, etc. The treatment in the local hospital was not relieved. He returned home on the morning flight on July 21st. On the evening of July 21, the patient arrived in Beijing and was seriously ill when he entered the country. On the afternoon of the 23rd, the China National Center for Disease Control and Prevention had a positive result of nucleic acid review. On the evening of the 23rd, our committee organized an expert group to diagnose the case as the first case of imported Rift Valley Fever in China according to the patient's epidemiological history, clinical manifestations, and laboratory test results. At present, the patient is in critical condition and is actively being treated. Experts believe that the spread of this epidemic is less risky.
After the epidemic occurred, the health and family planning department attached great importance and implemented quarantine treatment, epidemiological investigation, risk assessment, hospitalization control, anti-mosquito control, environmental disinfection, and health in accordance with Rift Valley fever related treatment programs and prevention and control requirements. Education and other control measures.
The relevant cases of this case have been notified to the World Health Organization and China’s Hong Kong SAR in a timely manner.
What is Rift Valley Fever?
Rift Valley Fever, also known as Rift Valley Fever, is an acute infectious disease caused by Rift Valley fever virus, also known as Rift Valley Fever Virus (RVFV). RVFV is a genus of blight virus of the family Bunyaviridae and is the second pathogenic microorganism. The disease mainly affects animals and can cause death and miscarriage of livestock. Young animals have a high mortality rate. Sheep, goats, cattle, buffalo, camels and other livestock can infect the virus and can be used as a source of infection.
People are generally susceptible to RVFV, and can be infected through direct contact with infected animals' tissues, blood, secretions and excretions, or undercooked meat or milk, or through Aedes, Culex, Anopheles and many other species. Biting and spreading; there is no human-to-human transmission report.
At present, the disease has been found in more than 30 countries, mainly in eastern and southern Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Somalia and other countries, Asia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, there have been outbreaks. Since 2013, the WHO has not reported that there has been a worldwide outbreak of Rift Valley fever. Prior to this, there was no report on the epidemic of RVF among animals and humans in China.
People who suffer from Rift Valley Fever Virus have milder symptoms, and a few patients may have severe symptoms. At present, there are no specific treatment methods, often using supportive therapy.
The main measures for preventing and controlling the epidemic of the Rift Valley fever include: strengthening the education of personnel in the affected areas and high-risk groups such as veterinarians; strengthening the quarantine of animals and humans at the ports to prevent the import of the epidemic; and taking anti-mosquito and anti-mosquito measures in the epidemic areas. , prevention and control of the spread of the epidemic; at the same time strengthen the hospital sense of control to prevent the emergence of nosocomial infections.
In 2008, the National Health and Family Planning Commission issued the "Rift Valley Heat Prevention and Control Technology Guide" and the "Rift Valley Heat Diagnosis and Treatment Plan."
