Winter and spring silage opening points

Silage is rich in nutrients, good palatability, and high feed value. It is one of the feeds for livestock and poultry in winter and spring. The following points should be noted when feeding in the open cellar:

When taking silage in layers, it is necessary to start from one end of the pit, and remove it from the surface layer by layer with a certain thickness so that the silage always maintains a flat surface and cannot be picked up by a burrow. And avoid mixing of dirt and debris.

It is advisable to take the appropriate amount of each time to feed enough for one day. The amount of material needed for the livestock to eat every day is not to be fed for a long time, so as to avoid deterioration of the feed.

When the silage is sealed and removed in time, the mouth of the cellar shall be sealed in time to prevent it from deteriorating due to long-term exposure to air.

From little to many silages have a sour taste. At the beginning of feeding, some livestock are not accustomed to feeding. In order to adapt them, the amount of silage should be increased from little to large.

Although a reasonable combination of silage is a high-quality roughage, it must be properly matched with the nutritional needs of the livestock and concentrates when feeding, and silage and other feeds should be fed together to improve feed utilization.

Acidity Some silage acidity is too large, should be reduced or treated, can be used 5% to 10% lime water and then feed, or add 12% of baking soda to reduce the acidity.
