Recently, according to an article published online in the August 28 issue of Head & Neck, the study found that H. pylori infection can increase the incidence of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, but the study found pyloric screw H. pylori infection has no effect on nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Dr. Zhou Jian from Fudan University School of Medicine and his colleagues conducted a systematic retrospective study of the infection of Helicobacter pylori. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the infection of Helicobacter pylori in patients with throat cancer. Through a series of analysis and analysis, the data obtained from this analysis are from the results of 11 related studies. Finally, the researchers applied the data for meta-analysis.

In this study, the researchers found that in the study of Helicobacter pylori infection, the final experimental results showed that compared with the normal control group, the Helicobacter pylori content in the experimental group showed a significant increase, (odds ratio It was 2.87; 1.71 vs. 4.84 in the 95% confidence interval; P < 0.0001). The odds ratios for laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma were 3.28 (95% confidence interval, 1.91 vs. 5.63; P < 0.0001) and 1.35 (95% confidence interval, 0.86 vs 2.12; P = 0.188).

"This meta-analysis strongly supports the association between H. pylori infection and throat cancer, especially after confirmation by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)," the authors write. "However, no significant associations between H. pylori infection and nasopharyngeal cancer were found by analysis. In addition, a small number of projects participating in this study caused a large confidence interval in this assessment."
