The third is to increase potassium fertilizer during the melon period. In the case of low potassium levels in the soil, the sweetness of melons will be significantly reduced. Therefore, the amount of nitrogen fertilizer and potash fertilizer should be reduced during the melon melon period. In the initial stage of melons, it is possible to flush 8-10 kilograms of potash per acre or 20 kilograms of high-potassium compound fertilizer.
The fourth is to control water before ripening melons. The excessive soil moisture in ripening melon will not only reduce the sweetness of melon, but also lead to "water rotten melon." Especially in the 10 days before the ripening of melon, we must pay attention to water control.
The fifth is to maintain sufficient light. The shed film should be cleaned frequently, and the shaded leaves of the melon must be carefully removed to enhance the transparency between the plants.
Sixth, it is suitable for harvesting. Generally melon development can be fully matured within 30-35 days. The sugar content is high and the flavor is good. However, at present, some melon farmers often harvest early for the morning market, which seriously reduces the sweetness of melons. Therefore, proper harvesting is the most basic measure to ensure the sweetness of muskmelon.
