Non-Thorny Pepper--The Cultivation of No.1 Farmhouse

The “Yongcheng No. 1” pepper was selected from the Shaanxi Dahongpao line by Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University and Yangling Qinxionglin High-tech Co., Ltd.

Characteristics: The variety of pepper is early mature, and flowering to maturity is 112 days. The 5-year-old tree canopy is 210m high. The plant type stands upright. The canopy opens naturally and the main branch grows obliquely. When the new shoot is red, the annual branch is purple-brown and the perennial branch is gray-brown. The main base has a small number of prickles, small branchlets with scattered thorns, and fruit branches without thorns. The thorns grow slightly upwards, and the length is less than 5mm. The prickly thorns in the larger red robes are reduced by more than 95%. The pine pinnate, alternate, and the leaf axis are narrow; Leaflets 5-9, opposite, long oval, 2.0-4.1cm long, 1.3-1.8cm wide, the edge of the sparse and shallow serrations, tooth glands with glandular points, the back of the leaves without thorns. Umbrella panicle terminal, 4 flowering results in late, each fruit 28 to 53 per ear; fruit stalk short, tight ear, fruit surface glands prominent, 40 to 56 fruit diameter 4 ~ 6mm. The fruit ripens in early August and the older red robe is about 15 days old. Ripe fruit red to purple, aromatic, fresh fruit weight of about 75g; mature fruit easy to crack, harvesting period is short, dry skin after the result was a strong red. Medium cold resistance, more drought-tolerant; suitable for adequate light, thick soil, leeward slopes and flatland cultivation.

Cultivation techniques: 1 Asexual reproduction, grafting and breeding using rootstock No. 1. 2 It is appropriate to transplant in early spring. After raising seedlings, planting holes, pits can be applied farmhouse fertilizer 3 ~ 4kg, planting density is generally 4m3m; planted in 40 ~ 50cm high dry, pouring enough water to improve the survival rate. During the growing season, weeds should be removed and pests and diseases must be eliminated. 3 In the 2nd year, keep 3 to 4 branches in the upper trunk as the main branch, cut off the lower branches in the main trunk, and remove the central standing branches. 4 In the third year, fertilization was performed once in the early spring or in the fall. Three-year-old planting seedlings were planted 0.3 kg per plant at 0.5 m from the trunk. After entering the result period, attention should be paid to pruning, cutting off long branches and cultivating happy-type crowns. Fertilizers of 0.8 to 1.0 kg per year should be used.

Main indicators of dried pepper: Main indicators of dried pepper are basically the same as Dahongpao. The pheromone content is 8.180.47 mg/g.

Yield and harvest: 5 to 7 years after planting, the average plant yields 2.66kg of dry pepper (Dahongpao 2.82kg). The harvest time is 20 minutes per plant for 6 years and approximately 2 hours/plant for Dahongpao.
