After the test, it was confirmed as a bedding of green mold, and this time finally found the reason. According to the technician's instructions, the customer immediately transferred the chickens out of the fermentation bed and replaced the litter, minimizing the loss of chickens.
From the above experience and lessons learned that in the spring and summer, it is the mold-prone season in litter, must pay attention to the selection of fermentation mattress materials, reduce unnecessary economic losses.

The carbon-nitrogen ratio is the basis for selecting litter. The C/N ratio required for the growth and reproduction of microorganisms is more suitable between 25-30:1, and the C/N ratio of livestock and poultry manure is relatively low, between 5-13:1, so the C/N is suitable to meet the microorganisms. In comparison, the C/N ratio of the selected litter materials should be as large as possible. For example, wood chips (sawdust), rice hulls, peanut hulls, and straw have higher C/N ratios (60-500:1), among which wood chips The maximum C/N of sawdust is about 492:1, and the larger the C/N ratio, the higher the air permeability and the longer the use time.
Dry sawdust mattress materials preferred sawdust, followed by rice husk, followed by straw, peanut shells, vinegar and other materials (when the litter is rich, these materials are generally not used, less used or cushioned in the lower use). The litter is dominated by sawdust and rice hulls: sawdust can be used completely, or 70% sawdust, 30% rice hull, and the proportion of rice husks should not exceed 30%.
