A new study in the United Kingdom found that a compound rich in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli can effectively prevent the most common form of arthritis and slow down cartilage damage caused by arthritis.
Researchers at the University of East Anglia and other institutions in the United Kingdom reported on the 28th that this compound, known as sulforaphane, inhibits an enzyme that can cause inflammation of joints, thereby slowing cartilage damage and alleviating joint pain.
Sulfurubicin is commonly found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage, and its content in broccoli is particularly abundant. Animal experiments have shown that rats fed regular diets rich in sulforaphane have a significantly lower incidence of arthritis and cartilage damage than other rats.
Previous research has found that sulforaphane has anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and other effects, this study found for the first time it is also conducive to joint health.
