Sleep sensor company Beddit's latest round of financing received $ 8 million

Beddit in Helsinki, Finland, announced the start of the latest round of financing, which has so far raised $8 million. This round of financing is dominated by venture capital. Beddit will use the funds to launch products for the US and European holiday sales season.
Beddit's sensors use projection heart rhythm to detect the individual's heartbeat using the wearer's cardiac contractility and to detect the rhythm of the breath with chest wall motion. The chest strap measures the user's bedtime, wake-up time, sleep time, sleep latency (from going to bed), heart rate, sleep quality, and respiratory movements, including snoring.
Sensors connect with Bluetooth and companion apps to provide personalized coaching, health diary, sleep history and social media sharing. Every morning, the app provides the user with a sleep analysis prompt to help the user know how to improve their sleep.
The company began accepting equipment reservations in August 2013 and raised $500,000 in funding through a financing model company. The company's goal at the time was $80,000. In December 2013, the company announced that they would fulfill their orders and open additional bookings through Amazon, the company's own website and some resellers. Beddit used to focus on the clinical market, not on financing.
Earlier this summer, Beddit partnered with Misfit Wearables to work with the Misfit Shine motion monitor. Consumers can purchase products from the Misfit website in conjunction with the Beddit brand, and sleep monitors will be integrated with the Misfit Shine app.
