Digital medical cloud platform PokitDok receives $34 million in Series B financing

PokitDok, an API (Application Programming Interface) provider for the healthcare industry, today announced a $34 million Series B round of financing. This round of financing was led by Lemhi Ventures, which focuses on investing in the medical insurance services industry. In June 2014, PokitDok also received $4.3 million in Series A financing, and PokitDok has received $39 million in financing to date. It is currently understood that PokitDok will invest the latest round of financing in sales and marketing.

Founded in October 2011, PokitDok is a cloud-based API providing platform created by Ted Tanner and Lisa Maki. PokitDok mainly targets two types of customers: individual users and enterprise users.

For individual users, PokitDok has an online trading platform that connects both patients and service providers. For business users, PokitDok can provide basic services for online stores, online booking, online payments and insurance payments. Currently, PokitDok provides 16 App interfaces for third-party developers, such as payers, health systems and digital health companies, including payment processing, insurance company qualification checks, referrals, insurance claims, cross-platform call records, patient identification Functional software frameworks such as management and supplier search.

It is understood that there are three cloud service models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. The service provided by PokitDok belongs to the PaaS mode (Platform-as-a-Service), which provides a platform for software development. Any mobile and web-side developer can use PokitDok's API to build a medical application that meets the needs of user registration, insurance company qualification checks, fast payments, or referrals. This has the advantage of providing information sharing for electronic medical records or other digital services between different systems.

Companies that currently use PokitDok services include Healthytyou, Doctor On Demand, PracticeSense, and Silversheet. At the same time, PokitDok has partnered with more than 300 insurance agencies to easily transfer data between patients, suppliers and insurance companies.
