The notice pointed out that the large area of ​​rice in our province is currently at the critical stage of grouting. Strong cooling and continuous low-temperature weather are extremely unfavorable for rice growth and grouting. When the temperature continued to fall below 20°C, the activity of rice roots decreased significantly, the lower leaves of rice plants accelerated, and the chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate of the upper leaves decreased, which resulted in the decrease of grain filling intensity, grain weight, and increase of empty grains. Decline, processing quality and cooking and eating quality become worse; when the temperature is lower than 15°C, the water absorption capacity of rice roots is basically lost and the grouting is suspended. Some varieties will produce the phenomenon of dead and dead shoots. Therefore, the recent occurrence of low-temperature weather will have different degrees of impact on the province's rice production, especially for late-planting and delayed sowing in the Huaibei region, which is mainly affected by machine-introduced rice and direct-seeded rice.
In view of the possible adverse effects of low-temperature chilling, the planting stations in Jiangsu Province require all localities to pay close attention to the dynamics of disastrous weather and disasters, and take effective defense measures to mitigate the low temperature hazards of rice. The first is to infuse deepwater insulation and protection seedlings. Before the low temperature strikes, it is necessary to timely infuse deep water to protect the seedlings with water. For paddy rice that is in the early stage of grouting, daily irrigation should be adopted. After the continuous low temperature and rainy weather, there is a sudden high temperature, and do not rush to drain water to prevent physiological greening. The second is to promote the application of foliar spray fertilizer. Spray foliar fertilizer such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate in time to improve the photosynthetic function of leaves, maintain root vigor, enhance the ability of rice to resist chilling injury, and reduce yield loss.
