Breeding and Application of Rose and New Lily Variety

Yunnan's cut flower production and sales continue to rank first in the country, and it has become a characteristic and advantageous industry that promotes the development of Yunnan's green economy, drives farmers to increase income, and increases Yunnan's image and international reputation. At present, new varieties independently developed by our country adopt foreign varieties as breeding parents, which are all “dependent derivative varieties”, which will seriously restrict the development of flower breeding and fresh cut flowers in China. The independent innovation of flower varieties as a long-term strategy is the key to a high-end industry and continuous market competitiveness. The Institute of Flowers and Flowers of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences responded to the above questions and, on the basis of years of accumulated research, further improved the research and development and promotion technology system for new flower varieties, and reserved a good number of excellent candidate strains and germplasm resources, and the number of new varieties cultivated. And quality has entered a period of rapid development.

For the breeding goals of Chinese rose and lilies, supplement the collection of excellent germplasm resources and enrich the genetic background. Targeted selection of hybrid parents was used for directional selection and breeding of hybrid offspring. Embryo rescue techniques were used to overcome obstacles of distant hybridization and some cultivars. Molecular marker-assisted breeding methods such as molecular markers and in situ hybridization of chromosomes were used to establish molecular markers and targeted screening techniques for target traits, enabling targeted rapid screening of germplasm resources, hybrid offspring, and new varieties (lines). Comprehensive backcross breeding and molecular markers were used to establish a flower target traits breeding and breeding technology system that combines rolling backcrossing and marker-assisted selection.
